Dr. Ritu Sethi is an M.D. in Kaya Chikitsa from Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar, and a B.A.M.S. graduate from M.D. University, Rohtak. 25+ Years of Professional Experience in Ayurveda
Dr. Ritu Sethi began her professional career in 1995 as a House Physician cum Clinical Registrar at Government Akhandanand Ayurvedic College & Hospitals, Ahmedabad. During her three-year association, she gained extensive experience in hospital OPD and IPD services, Ayurvedic medicine and Panchakarma therapies.
Alongside her clinical responsibilities, she was involved in teaching and conducting lectures and clinical classes for B.A.M.S. final-year students and M.D. scholars.
Her M.D. research included a clinical and comparative study of Sodhana (Virecana) Purvaka Samana and Samana Cikitsa in the management of essential hypertension, with particular emphasis on Panchakarma.
This early combination of clinical practice, Panchakarma and academic research established an important foundation for her subsequent professional career.
Ayurveda Consultation & Panchakarma Experience
Panchakarma has been a significant area of Dr. Sethi’s professional experience. During her career, she has provided Ayurvedic medicine and Panchakarma consultation and has been involved in the development and management of Panchakarma services.
As a Consultant – Ayurveda & Research Officer with Maharishi Ayurveda Corporation Ltd., New Delhi, she conducted routine OPDs, provided Panchakarma consultations and participated in clinical research activities. She was also involved in specialized medical camps and provided product training to marketing teams.
Later, during her association with Multani Pharmaceuticals Ltd., New Delhi, she continued her clinical and Panchakarma work and was involved in initiating the setup of a Panchakarma department. Her responsibilities also included scientific writing, reference-based formulation development and Ayurveda-related content development.
Experience with Government Ayurveda & Traditional Knowledge Projects
A major milestone in Dr. Ritu Sethi’s career was her association with the Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, New Delhi.
As an Ayurveda Expert associated with the Traditional Knowledge Digital Library (TKDL), she contributed to work involving approximately 69,000 Ayurvedic formulations during Phase I and II. Her responsibilities included scientific writing, preparation and finalization of methods of Ayurvedic formulations and technical contributions to Ayurveda knowledge resources.
She subsequently worked as a Consultant – Ayurveda under the GTP Scheme, where she handled activities associated with the validation of traditional Ayurvedic drugs and development of new drugs in collaboration with organizations including CSIR and ICMR.
Her professional responsibilities also included work related to the Extra Mural Research Scheme, Ayusoft project and TKDL-related matters, along with coordination related to Tibetan Medicine.
This experience provided exposure to Ayurveda not only from a clinical perspective but also from the areas of research, traditional knowledge documentation, drug validation and scientific development.
Senior Consultant Ayurveda Experience
Dr. Ritu Sethi has also held senior clinical responsibilities in a hospital environment.
Her recent professional profile includes serving as Senior Consultant (Ayurveda) & HOD at Holy Family Hospital, Okhla Road, Delhi. Her responsibilities included GOPD, POPD and overall management involving the Panchakarma therapist team.
